Horseback Riding

Early explorers in the Canadian Rockies travelled almost exclusively on horseback and the Rafter Six Ranch played an important part in that history. Today you can visit Rafter Six and discover spectacular mountain scenery yourself on a 1 hour, 2 hour, half day or full day trail ride. The ranch has an impressive setting at the meeting point of the Kananaskis Valley and Bow Valley, and the lodge is a huge impressive log structure, which is an awesome sight in itself. The Rafter Six Ranch is located just 20 mins east of Canmore.

Canmore’s Best Coffee

There are some great cafes and bakeries in Canmore, but sometimes you’ve just got to come out and tell everyone which is the best, and our favorite is Mountain Mercato on 817 Main St. Their Illy coffee is straight from Italy, and when accompanied by one of their authentic biscotti or panini you may be forgiven for thinking you’ve taken a quick trip to Europe!

Hikes & Walks

One of our favorite places to walk is on the Town trail Network, which encompasses
9km of trails running in around the town winding and along the river. This is a great way to get a sense of the area and you will find access points throughout the town.

Another great local hike is the Grassi Lakes Hiking Trail, 3.8 km and should take a couple of hours return. Highlights along the way - waterfalls & wildflowers. Take in the view of Canmore and area. The trail head is past the Nordic Centre at the end of the paved road. Turn left into parking lot.

Take a look at their website for more information, or better still, visit their Discovery Centre at 634 Main Street, Canmore.

There is no denying that Canmore Alberta is an ideal choice for anyone looking to invest in Canadian Rockies real estate, but deciding on exactly what you want from your Canmore home can be a difficult task. In recent years Canmore has experienced a great deal of growth due to the new developments and the worldwide marketing of these developments, and there is no doubt that many of the new homes in Canmore have been exceptionally well designed with luxurious mountain living in mind.
However, buying new is not the only option. If you prefer to be close to downtown, you may want to consider some of the older homes which were built well before the recent new developments and have been around since Canmore’s coal mining days. The value of Canmore’s older homes has also increased in recent years and they can offer an equal if not better investment opportunity to those willing to do their homework. Some people have chosen to buy an older home and rent it out with a view to replacing it with a new home in the future and others have achieved wonderful results with renovation.
The best way to see the range of real estate options you have in Canmore is to contact a Canmore realtor and get them to show you around. Happy hunting!
